THE TECUMSEH UNITED METHODIST CHURCH COUNCIL

The Tecumseh United Methodist Church Administrative Council met at 7:00 p.m. on March 4, 2007.  Those present were: Steve & Nelta Hennessey, Ernestine Adams, Colleen Scott, Donna Johnston, Carole Stone, Darlene Peck, Pastor Dottie, Pat Krug, Betty Waller, Jan Kieffer, Neva Martin, Larry McCammon, Betty Fergola, Willa Norwood & Chairman Herb Whitlow.

The meeting opened with Ernestine telling us her thoughts on our dwelling on the negatives around us rather than thinking about all of the positives that surround us every day.  She has experienced the rewards of “Waiting on the Lord” and says it is a “life changing experience.”  She says “you can’t get anywhere without God.”  “I can wait upon the Lord and He will take care of me.”   She closed with a prayer.

Herb asked if there were any corrections to the minutes.  Pastor Dottie said she had a correction on the last paragraph.  It should read as follows: “Pastor Dottie wanted to make it clear that although she sometimes interrupts conversations she does not intend for that to happen because “my hearing aids are directional, so I hear most where I am looking.  The aids diminish sounds to either side, so I miss what may be said beside me.  I do not hear many sounds everyone else takes for granted.” She would like everyone to be patient with her.  The corrected minutes were approved.

The Finance Committee had no report as there was no meeting.   Darlene made the motion and Nelta 2nd it that the Treasurers Report be approved as printed.  Motion carried. It was noted that Larry had sent the check for money that we received from the ham and bean dinner to the Conference to be used for disaster relief for persons in Western Kansas who suffered because of the terrible weather.

Neva reported that the Education Committee had met and there will be a different format for the Sunday school this summer.

There were several suggestions made for use of Memorials.  Some ideas being the possibility of placing hearing devices in several pews for the use of the hearing impaired, an exhaust system in the kitchen, new tables and new draperies in fellowship hall.  Herb suggested that any one having a wish to tell Ernestine and she would put it on a wish list and the trustees or memorial committee would evaluate the suggestions.  Pastor Dottie said that a wish list could be very helpful.

Pastor Dottie explained that she has told the PPR committee she was going to take advantage of the opportunity to further her continuing education and spiritual renewal this summer.  She said that she and Pastor Piet were going to go see the Dead Sea Scrolls on March 17 and she would report to the committee on their visit.

Herb reported that the Disaster Committee had met and the minutes are posted on the church web site.  The boundaries of our area have been established as follows: the Kansas River on the north,  K-4 on the west, the turnpike on the south, and the Douglas county line on the east.

Herb told everyone to remember to bring a guest to church and dinner next Sunday.  April 1 will be our next meeting and Neva will have devotions.

Darlene made the motion to adjourn and Pat 2nd the motion.  Motion carried.

Respectfully Submitted by Willa Norwood, Acting Secretary
