THE TECUMSEH UNITED METHODIST CHURCH COUNCIL 

        The Administrative Council of Tecumseh United Methodist Church met July 5, 2009 at 7:15pm. Those present were Nelta Hennessey, chairperson, Pastor Josh Gooding, Ernestine Adams, Betty Fergola, Sarah Gooding, Rita Halderman, Steve Hennessey, Jan Kieffer, Pat Krug, Donna Johnston, Neva Martin, David and Virginia Martinson, Larry McCammon, Willa Norwood, Darlene Peck, Nancy Rush, Carole Stone, Betty Waller, Barbara and Herb Whitlow.
        Darlene led the opening devotional time with some thoughts from a retired Navy Chaplain titled “Just For Today.” In his writing he gave guidelines for making the most of each day. She closed the devotional time with prayer.
        In the minutes of the June meeting a correction was made to say that the proposed movie night on the lawn was a joint effort of the Evangelism and Health Ministry Committees. The minutes were approved by council as amended.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
        Jan (Trustees) reported that her committee is receiving bids to replace broken windows. It is planned to remove the carpet from the conference room and then determine the type of floor covering to install. The blue tile will be removed on the north side of the building.
        Carole (Congregational Care) announced the date for next visitation will be August 16. She also said that Personal Touch, a men’s quartet, will be performing for the Ice Cream Social, September 13.
        Virginia (SPPR) passed a copy of a placemat which will be used when a meal is served at the church. The new placemat shows a drawing of the church and lists activities and times taking place.
        Pat (Finance) passed the sign up sheet to sell grocery certificates after worship each Sunday.
        Darlene (Missions) said proceeds from the Mission Dinner after worship on July 19 will go to McCurdy School and Sullivan Chapel.
        Larry reviewed the financial statement as printed.
        Rita (Education) thanked everyone who helped make Vacation Bible School a success. There will be an Education Committee meeting on Thursday, July 9 at 7:00pm.
Neva (Evangelism) talked about the Movie Night on the Lawn. Sarah is completing door hangers which will be distributed throughout the neighborhood.
        Ernestine reminded council of the Discovery Club meeting July 9 at 6:30pm. Anyone interested is invited to attend. She will need help at USD 450’s enrollment at the high school on July 30 to receive registrations for Discovery Club.
        Herb (CERT) reported on the county-wide CERT exercise, July 24-26 at Tecumseh Park. A meal will be served at TUMC on Saturday evening. CERT training classes will be starting soon.
        Larry reminded council of the Kiwanis Ice Cream Social on July 19. Santa Fe Band will provide entertainment.
        During Pastor Josh’s time he shared that he has been busy planning. His current focus is on sermon series. Upcoming will be a series based on the Gospel of John.
        Pastor Josh closed council meeting with prayer.
