The Tecumseh Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)  Meeting at Tecumseh UM Church, April 28, 2007 10:00 am       Those in attendance were: Herb Whitlow, Neva Martin, Kevin Howbert, S.H.F.D., Tom Garcia, chief of S.H.F.D., John Shoemaker, Jan Kieffer and Roy Baughman, Troop 18, B.S.A.       Herb Whitlow read the highlights of previous meetings to give first time attendees some idea of what had been discussed in previous meetings.       Neva Martin had attended the Grantville, KS. meeting of their Emergency Response Team.  Neva brought their plan.  We discussed and made note of what would also work for us.       The CERT group will be sending a postcard to every resident in our disaster area.  Acquiring addresses of everyone has been difficult, however, Rural Water District No. 8 volunteered to print labels of all customers in this area.  We furnished the labels.  This was a great help to us.       Roy Baughman volunteered the Boy Scouts to help label the postcards and ready them for mailing.  The postcards should be in the mail before our May 26th meeting.       Chief Tom Garcia asked about CERT training for our group.  This CERT training is recommended for members of the Disaster Group.  It was suggested that training times might be set up at Tecumseh and Grantville to give more opportunities for people to attend training sessions.       The remaining meeting was spent discussing the need of Road Captains who could check their areas in case of an emergency.  Homes would need to be checked and flagged to indicate which one would need assistance or if they were O.K.  This could be done with flags so that Emergency Crews would not spend time checking a site that required no help.      Next meeting will be May 26, 10:00 am, Tecumseh United Methodist Church.  Respectfully submitted,  Herb Whitlow
