The Tecumseh Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)  May 26, 2007 Minutes of Meeting – Tecumseh UMC  In attendance: Neva Martin; Herb Whitlow; Linda Vogel; Roy Baughman; Austin Baughman; and Heather Rake. Herb reported on the ERT meeting at Grantville. Jefferson County ERT coordinator Doug Schmitt said they would be working through the Fire Department only. The Emergency Preparedness Fair will be held September 22 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. will be held at the Grantville United Methodist Church. Everyone is welcome to attend. The Grantville ERT feels this is a good way to get word out about emergency preparedness in their area. Neva reported the postcards were being readied for mailing. The Boy Scouts will assembly them at their next meeting. They should be arriving in the mail soon. Roy suggested that the Scouts highlight the Emergency Response heading so that it will draw your attention to the purpose of the postcard. Shawnee County prepared a map of our area – from K-4 Highway on the West, Douglas County line East, Kansas River on the North, and turnpike on the South. We will use this map to divide the area into regions for wardens who will be responsible for reporting on conditions in their area. If you would like to be a warden please let us know. Linda brought brochures (6) that the State of Kansas put out explaining the CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) program. It is a very well illustrate and informative brochure. We hope to incorporate some of the information into our literature. It was suggested that our map be mounted on some type of backing and covered with a clear cover.
