The Tecumseh Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)    The Tecumseh Area Community Emergency Response Team met Jan. 26, 08 at 10:00 am in the Tecumseh United Methodist Church in Tecumseh, KS. Attending were Herb Whitlow, Pat Krug, Willa Norwood, Jan Kieffer, Mary Ertl, Ann Mah, and Neva Martin.   It was decided to notify the County government, the Shawnee Heights Fire Department, and the Shawnee County Sheriff Departments that the Tecumseh United Methodist Church is a point of contact during any emergency situation in the area of focus.   Willa suggested we divide the focus area into divisions, and have one or more persons of contact within each division. All those present were in agreement with Willa's suggestion. A map of the area of focus was then divided into 21 divisions. Neva will contact interested persons to be become contacts for the various divisions.   It was decided to have the division contact person(s) notify division residents about the Tecumseh CERT program, then send out a mailing with more information and helpful suggestions.   Herb will enlarge the map of the divisions, and get names, addresses and phone numbers of people living in the divisions.   Herb will let us know via e-mail when the next meeting will be.   Meeting was adjourned at 11:45   Submitted by Mary Ertl Tecumseh CERT team secretary Update: The February meeting will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, the 23rd at the Tecumseh United Methodist Church. If you have been contacted and asked to become a contact person for one of the twenty one divisions in the Tecumseh emergency area please attend this important meeting. If you would like to be a contact person please let us know.   CERT training classes will be held on two weekends in April (18-19th and 25-26th) on Friday evening at 5:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. There is no charge and all materials will be furnished.
