Tecumseh Community Emergency Response Team
Tecumseh United Methodist Church

August 24, 2009

The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm. Those present were Herb Whitlow, Willa Norwood, Ingrid Garczarek, Nancy Rush, Dan and Pat Krug, Neva Martin, David and Linda Brink, Steve Vogel, Jan Kieffer, Cynthia Whitsell.

Tecumseh Community Heritage Day will be held September 26. Plans for Tecumseh CERT participation were discussed. It is planned to obtain the trailer for display and its placement was decided. Neva will gather handout and other items for use that day. Linda and David will prepare a display of storm photos.

The next CERT meeting will be August 31 at TUMC at 7:00pm. This will be a joint meeting with Shawnee County CERT.

It was discussed that storage is needed in the church building for cots, food, etc. to be used when the building is needed as a shelter. It was also mentioned that perhaps we should look into the building of a storm shelter which could provide some storage as well as providing shelter. There is partial funding available to do so.

Food preparation was discussed. Food items prepared outside the shelter are not allowed to be brought in for use when the building is used as a shelter. There is a training program that we would be able to take advantage of. We will look into having one of the stoves hooked to the generator.

The committee should perhaps make some plans to deal with the outbreak of the H1N1 flu.

Emphasis on projects that are of value community-wide need to be brought before this committee. Mention was made of obtaining a defibrillator to be housed on site.

Steve and Linda Vogel are continuing work on a listing of residents in the area.

Respectfully submitted,
Nancy Rush
