Tecumseh Community Emergency Response Team
Tecumseh United Methodist Church
June 22, 2009

The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm. Those present were Herb Whitlow, Kevin Smoot, Dan and Pat Krug, Willa Norwood, Ingrid Garczarek, Nancy Rush, David and Linda Brink, Neva Martin, Keith Zimmer, Cindy Whitsell, Steve Vogel.

The minutes of the May 28 meeting were reviewed.

Herb passed copies of a letter he composed which explains the availability of the Tecumseh North Elementary School shelter in case of a tornado warning. He has extra copies of the letter if area captains wish to distribute them to residents in their areas.

Herb is needing listings of residents from area captains. His original plan was the make an all-inclusive directory. Perhaps it could be done in Excel which uses a good columnar format. Area captains would need to update their neighborhoods regularly to keep the directory current.

Tecumseh CERT will not hold a meeting in July. The next meeting will be Monday, August 24 at 7:00pm.

The county-wide emergency exercise was discussed. It will be held July 24, 25, 26 at Tecumseh Park. It will begin Friday at noon. Training will be taking place all three days. The Red Cross has scheduled Shelter Management Training for Saturday, 8:00am. A listing of other scheduled training events will be received soon. The Saturday evening meal will be prepared and served by Tecumseh CERT. Pat and Neva will make plans for the meal and e-mails will go out asking for volunteers to assist.

Cindy mentioned a request she had received regarding information about CERT. Neva suggested going to FEMA’s website, clicking on CERT, where general information can be found.

Respectfully submitted,
Nancy Rush
